Hello Angel and friends! How was your weekend? How many ornaments have you made so far?

I have been making steady progress with my Little Birds Garland and hope to show you the finished result later this week. I love hand-stitching in front of the TV at night, it's such a nice way to wind down. If you have ornaments or other Christmas projects to show us, please share some pics in our Christmas in July Flickr pool!

As you know by now, Lark Crafts is generously sharing a few patterns from Amanda Carestio's wonderful book Fa La La La Felt with us for our Christmas in July series.

We've already shared the Layer Play ornament pattern designed by Laura Howard and the Little Birds Garland pattern designed by Lisa Jordan. Today we are sharing two ornament patterns: Felt Flora and Merry Little Ornaments.

I couldn't decide which I love more out of these two ornaments. How lucky are we that Amanda at Lark Crafts agreed to share both?! Aren't they just beautiful? I am very excited to try out the beading, I've never done that before. Do you have any tips? I think the combination of felt, beads and embroidery opens up a world of options for color choices. I have ideas swirling around my head and am thinking bright colors! What color scheme are you going with?

The designer of both ornaments is Cathy Ziegele. Her Etsy shop is called The Daily Pincushion (it's currently in vacation mode). We couldn't find much information about her online but her biography in Fa La La La Felt mentions she used to be a chef!

  1. Oo, I love these ones too! These are one of the patterns in the book that I really like but haven't had a chance to make yet... hopefully I will have time this fall! It's been fun following along with your stitching even if I didn't have time to jump in :)
